The developers, Red Wasp Design, revealed the existence of a Cyclopean pact with the Intel AppUp program to spread the insanity onto laptops, Ultrabooks and desktops worldwide. The Intel AppUp center is a service that aggregates, curates and distributes validated digital content delivering a fuller, richer experience on the PC.
The game will launch on the AppUp center on 5th May 2012 at the RPC Germany international RPG event. The games developers will also be at the event demoing the PC version of the game to fans and fellow gamers. The price point will be confirmed on the release date. AppUp is free to install and has lots of games and applications on it for Windows PCs. The PC version of the game runs in widescreen and has been optimised to run on laptops, Ultrabooks™ and desktops including support for Windows 7 touchscreen powered PCs.
Supported by the Intel AppUp developer program, the PC version of the game will also feature language support for German, French, Italian and Spanish gamers. The game’s designer, Tomas Rawlings said, “We’ve had lots of requests from fellow gamers and fans of Lovecraftian horror to bring the game to PC, and thanks to Intel’s support that will now happen. It’s also great to be able to get the game translated into more languages, as Lovecraft’s work has a universal appeal.”
For those new to the cult title, the indie game is a turn-based strategy RPG inspired by the works of cult horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. The game was developed in co-operation with Chaosium, the publishers of the cult horror role playing game, Call of Cthulhu. The game features nine 3D levels set in the trenches of World War One. In ‘The Wasted Land’ the player controls a team of up to six investigators charged with uncovering a deadly inhuman conspiracy underlying the clash of empires of the Great War. Barbed wire, mustard gas and machines guns will prove to be the least dangerous thing that the investigators will encounter as they venture out into No-man’s land to solve the mystery of the Wasted Land. As the game progresses, the player can build up the skills, weapons and equipment of the team to suit their playing style. As well as the physical danger, the investigators must guard their sanity against the myriad horrors that threaten to destroy it.

Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land – v1.2 Updates & Improves Controls
We are really pleased to say that version 1.2 of Call of Cthulhu: The Wasted Land is now out on the app store. This update fixes the bugs that have been found and and improves the controls for the game. We have replaced the old double-tap system with a touch & hold for attacking, using equipment and buying/swapping items. We’ve also added a pinch zoom. We hope you’ll update (how to update) the game and get have bug-free insanity from here onwards…
We want to thank you for your patience. Most of you, even when reporting bugs have been supportive of us; you all seem to get that we’re not some huge studio with hundreds of staff but an indie developer with just 3 of us! Finally, after updating and playing v1.2 if you like what it, we’d be really pleased if you would review and rate the game on the App Store (how to rate) and share the insanity…

Sanity, however, is at a premium – and witnessing inhuman horrors from beyond the pale or tapping into spells can debilitate units beyond strategic usefulness. "Version 1.2 of THE WASTED LAND is with Apple now. It could be with you in a few hours or a couple of days. Sensitivity has been resolved by changing from double-tap to touch & hold for attacks, using items of equipment and in the Quartermaster/Swap screen. We found in testing this change that not only does to resolve the selection issues, but plays much better anyway. We have also added a pinch zoom. We’ve fixed all the bugs such as (white textures on The Many Voices & Death By Gas) and the crashes at the end of turns/levels (it was all the same issue). There was another issue where if Brightmeer was killed in mission The Raid, it did not fail the mission as it should. So if you’re on that mission and he’s been killed, please restart it (or to last objective) so he is alive. If you’ve passed that mission he should respawn in but without any upgrades, equipment you might have given him.
Please note that while it is with Apple our testing continues and it is possible we’ll find an issue that means we have to pull version 1.2 and re-fix stuff. We’re confident this is not the case, but want you all to know the full picture. One of the issues in bug fixing is that as you fix one issue, you can often break another. We’ve been really wowed by the support and patience of people. You all seem to get that we’re not some huge studio with hundreds of staff but an indie developer with just 3 of us! So thanks and we hope v1.2 allows uninterrupted gaming.
